LIBE ePrivacy vote delayed; JURI, ITRE and EDPS weigh in

On 12 October, the LIBE committee is expected to finalize the ePrivacy rules for the parliament by adopting the report by MEP Marju Lauristin in plenary. According to IAPP , the vote will be postponed. IAPP refers to a period of at least one week.

The three commissions for opinion have made their copy in recent days, alarmed by the Quadrature of the Net and Qwant on the respect of the user’s consent.

ePrivacy, which is scheduled to be implemented in May 2018, along with the RGPD, must protect its cousin’s blind spots, including metadata, communications and cookies.
